
This course provides an introduction to the key concepts of business finance. It is designed for students who have a basic understanding of mathematics, economics, and accounting principles. The course is focused on corporate finance and highlights the application of these concepts in real-world scenarios, with an emphasis on practical problem-solving skills. Specific topics include Firms and the Financial Markets, Financial Statements and Analysis, Time Value of Money, Risks and Rates of Return, Debt Valuation and Interest Rates and Capital Budgeting.

The course is concerned with the activities engaged by manufacturing and service-oriented organizations in the production and delivery of goods and/or services. It focuses on the role of developing an operations strategy to achieve competitive advantage; it also focuses on the strategies for production planning in particular product design and development, process strategies, capacity planning, qualitative and quantitative forecasting techniques, project management, facility location and facility layout; it covers the strategies for production control such as inventory (stock) control and quality control. Finally, it looks at the areas of the environment and productivity.

The course forms the second half of a two-semester course in international financial accounting and reporting that is required for all business students. This course concentrates on the fundamentals of accounting for assets, liabilities, and equities for corporations. It begins with Internal Control Systems, followed by Short Term Liquid Assets, Long Term Assets, Current Liabilities, Long Term Liabilities and Corporations.
