The course is concerned with the activities engaged by manufacturing and service-oriented organizations in the production and delivery of goods and/or services. It focuses on the role of developing an operations strategy to achieve competitive advantage; it also focuses on the strategies for production planning in particular product design and development, process strategies, capacity planning, qualitative and quantitative forecasting techniques, project management, facility location and facility layout; it covers the strategies for production control such as inventory (stock) control and quality control. Finally, it looks at the areas of the environment and productivity.
