SP180 is a course that enables the student to read and explore the language and structure of Spanish Literature. Students will have the opportunity to identify Siglos V a XIV- Literatura Medieval, El Renacimiento- Siglo XVI and Siglo XVII: El Barroco y El Siglo de Oro during which Spanish Literature developed and evolved. The study of the various genres in different eras will enable the students to also study the historical and social contexts that have influenced and shaped Spanish Literature. The students will have the opportunity to cover the literature needed to complete the CAPE syllabus. Each piece to be studied in this course will allow the student to draw the connection between the literary piece and the themes found in the CAPE syllabus. The reading and studying of these pieces should be a culturally enriching process that will help the Caribbean student to better understand, respect and appreciate the values, beliefs and behavior of the Hispanic culture.
