The course introduces student teachers to the teaching of language and literacy to students in the pre-teen and adolescent years. During the course, student teachers acquire knowledge of how these students progress towards proficiency in oral language, reading comprehension and original writing skills. The course focuses on the assessment of primary school students; assignments engage student teachers in authentic activities that enable them to explore the interconnections between the evaluation of ability levels and learning, instructional goals, teaching strategies and student-centered activities.
